Recovery in Singapore’s labour market is expected to continue this year, but the Manpower Ministry has said this could be slower because of increased risks in the global economy. The overall unemployment rate dipped from 3 per cent in 2020 to 2.7 per cent last year. The citizen unemployment rate went down from 4.2 per cent to 3.7 per cent. Unemployment rates in January this year also declined to around December 2019 levels, which was before COVID-19 hit Singapore.
