A commander of Ukrainian marines defending Mariupol’s last stronghold has said his forces could be facing their last days, if not hours. Moscow’s second ultimatum for the soldiers holding out at the Azovstal steel plant to lay down arms has expired. According to Russian estimates, as many as 2,500 fighters are dug in at the plant, while Mariupol’s mayor said about 2,000 civilians are trapped as well. Meanwhile, the US is set to approve another large package of military assistance while the UK is looking to provide anti-ship missiles.
