Town councils will manage costs of maintaining housing estates to avoid raising service and conveyance charges (S&CC) for residents until it is necessary to do so. That’s as the costs of upkeeping estates have gone up over the last few years. Some cost increases, such as labour, are unavoidable. In parliament on May 9, Bukit Batok MP Murali Pillai had raised concerns that maintaining newer build-to-order estates may be more expensive due to design features. PAP town councils last raised S&CC charges in June 2017.
