The system is slated to cut up to 120,000 tonnes a year in carbon emissions — equivalent to taking more than 109,000 cars off the road. When completed in 2025, there will be a centralised chiller plant to pipe in cool water to surrounding buildings and deliver the warmed water back to be rechilled.
