Families and schools have been urged to continue keeping an eye on youths to prevent them from picking up problem gambling, even as new laws have been passed to criminalise underage gambling. It is now illegal for those under the age of 21 to do so. The exception is those placing bets at physical Singapore Pools outlets, where the minimum age remains at 18. The Gambling Control Bill also provides an exemption for physical social gambling among families and friends in homes.
