The White Paper on Women’s Development took centre stage in Parliament on April 5. Nearly 10 political office holders and close to 30 members of parliament weighed in, calling for greater support for caregivers, stronger protection against violence, and a need for mindset shifts in a bid to advance gender equality in Singapore. Communications and Information Minister Josephine Teo said the white paper debate’s greatest contribution is in upholding the values Singapore holds dear as a society, such as equality, partnership and respect.
