Shanghai authorities have threatened to punish people who breach the city’s COVID-19 lockdown rules. The police have warned residents not to spread false information, or to forge road passes in order to go out for their daily supplies. Nearly 26 million people are under lockdown. Residents have been battling to secure food delivery slots, and many have been forced to pay exorbitant prices for necessities. Shanghai reported over 26,000 new COVID-19 cases on April 13. Meanwhile, some locals and expatriates are leaving Shanghai.
