Singapore’s paddlers failed to defend their gold medals in both the men’s and women’s singles at the 31st SEA Games. Both Clarence Chew and Zeng Jian ended their campaigns in the semi-finals. SEA Games debutante Zeng lost her semi-final to Thailand’s Orawan Paranang in a closely fought match. Meanwhile, men’s veteran Chew fell to Vietnam’s Nguyen Duc Tuan.
