More attention has been paid to the issue of mental well-being since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, according to survey findings from the SMU Centre for Research on Successful Ageing, the elderly in Singapore prioritise physical health over mental well-being. The Centre has been studying data from a sample of Singapore households for more than five years. Centre director Paulin Straughan shared why seniors could be prioritising physical health, and what could be done to help them be more aware of their mental well-being.
