Malaysia’s government has ordered an immediate investigation into the mass escape of around 500 Rohingya migrants from a detention centre on the border between the states of Kedah and Penang. A manhunt is continuing for more than 150 who are still at large. Six migrants died while trying to cross a highway. The police said those who remain at large are barefoot and appear to be headed south in large groups. Rohingya migrants enter Malaysia illegally from Myanmar or Bangladesh by boat, and many remain undocumented.
