NTU scientists have found a way to make renewable biocement, which is made entirely from waste products. They say it’s cheaper and greener than the regular type. This starts when urea and bacteria from wastewater is reacted with calcium taken from industrial carbide sludge. When this happens in soil or sand, it binds particles together, forming a strong and solid block. This renewable version can be used to strengthen the ground for construction, control beach erosion, and even repair monuments like statues.
