The International Atomic Energy Agency has said North Korea is expanding key facilities at its main nuclear site at Yongbyon. It said a new building has been completed, possibly in preparation for a nuclear test. Construction on two adjacent buildings has also started. South Korea and the US have fired eight surface-to-surface missiles in response to Pyongyang’s barrage of weapons tests. The South Korean military said the exercise is a demonstration of Seoul and Washington’s “capability and readiness to carry out precision strikes”.
