Myanmar’s Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to four more years in prison. A court has convicted the ousted leader for the illegal possession and import of walkie-talkies, as well as breaching COVID-19 rules. Ms Suu Kyi has been detained since the military coup in February 2021. The Myanmar army has barred the media from attending the trials. Lawyers have also been given a gag order. Ms Suu Kyi has yet to face some of her most serious verdicts, including corruption and breaching the country’s Official Secrets Act. She faces a dozen charges and if guilty on all counts, she could be jailed for life.
