MPs raise concerns about newer forms of gambling such as loot boxes in video games

The definition of gambling has been broadened to capture emerging products, such as loot boxes in video games and the sale of mystery boxes. With the boundaries between gambling and gaming becoming blurred, MPs asked how chance-based loot boxes in online games will be regulated. The Home Affairs Ministry said its approach is to strike a balance between leisure and entertainment and safeguarding against gambling inducement.
