Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing said Singapore’s constitution has to strike a balance between wide representation and fitness for office. As part of a review of the constitution, the fine quantum to be disqualified as a Member of Parliament will be raised from at least $2,000 to at least $10,000 to account for inflation. This continues to ensure that MPs are persons with integrity who adhere to high standards of conduct.
