Singapore’s household incomes have benefitted from the general economic recovery last year. Median monthly household income from work has grown by some 3.6% from a year ago, surpassing pre-COVID-19 levels. Still, observers said more needs to be done to ensure that vulnerable groups are cared for. Meanwhile, the wealth gap also narrowed. The Gini coefficient — a measure of income inequality — declined to its second lowest level since 2000.
