K Shanmugam’s ministerial statement on setting up a Public Defender’s Office for criminal legal aid

A Public Defender’s Office (PDO) will be set up to provide criminal legal aid to more needy Singaporeans, Law and Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam announced in Parliament on Monday (Apr 4). It will benefit more households than the current Criminal Legal Aid Scheme (CLAS) and will cover more types of offences.
