Japan is set to finally ease border restrictions as soon as next month. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida had pledged to do so while he was in the UK for bilateral meetings. He added that curbs will be reviewed in stages after the Golden Week holiday break. Japan is reporting thousands of new infections every day, but experts said border controls slowly should have no adverse effects. Japan had placed a blanket ban on inbound tourists for more than two years.
