Indonesia rolls out COVID-19 booster shots as infections hit three-month high

Indonesia has rolled out its COVID-19 booster programme as virus infections hit close to a three-month high. Residents can get their third dose six months after their second jab. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the booster shots will be administered as half doses, in line with studies that confirmed the efficacy of that dosage. Mistrust towards COVID-19 vaccines and logistical issues have slowed vaccine distribution across Indonesia, with some 56% of a target population of more than 208 million having received two jabs so far.
