India is under fire as nations lash out over controversial comments made by two prominent members of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ruling party. Suspended Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma is asking for police protection, saying she has been receiving death threats over her remarks about Islam and the Prophet Muhammad. The comments from Ms Sharma and Delhi’s media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal have sparked diplomatic outrage from Muslim-majority countries. Ms Sharma has been suspended and Mr Jindal has been expelled.
