India rolls out COVID-19 booster shots to frontline workers, elderly

India has begun rolling out COVID-19 booster shots to frontline workers and the elderly as it grapples with a mounting outbreak driven by the Omicron variant. Hundreds of doctors across the nation are testing positive for the coronavirus. In New Delhi, 300 policemen have also been infected. Nationwide, close to 180,000 new cases were reported on Jan 10. Daily infections have risen by nearly eight times over the past 10 days. Some researchers have warned that, without intervention, India could see half a million cases a day by February.
