Hong Kong imposes aggressive measures to stave off Omicron

Hong Kong is stepping up restrictions as it battles growing COVID-19 cases, fuelled by the Omicron variant. The financial hub will reportedly ban transit by air travellers from high-risk regions from Saturday (Jan 15). More than 40 Omicron infections have been found in the city. Meanwhile, kindergartens and primary schools will be shut from Friday as more children contract the virus. The government has approved Sinovac’s vaccine for those aged five and above, and the jabs will be offered in schools after the Chinese New Year holiday.
