Hong Kong chief executive hopeful John Lee has formally thrown his hat into the ring for the city’s top job. The former chief secretary will stand in May’s election after securing 786 nominations, which means he already has the backing of more than half of the voters in the election committee tasked with picking Hong Kong’s next leader. But analysts said Mr Lee must now make clear his policy plans to inspire confidence. This is the first Chief Executive election after the electoral reform in 2021.
