Singapore’s plan to expand Project Wolbachia to control the rise of the dengue mosquito population will require coordination between the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the relevant town councils. The project involves the release of male Aedes mosquitoes infected with the Wolbachia bacteria into areas covering up to 300,000 homes. Associate Professor Ng Lee Ching, Group Director of the Environmental Health Institute at NEA, and Chua Ming Kok, Chairman of the MacPherson Citizens’ Consultative Committee, spoke to CNA on this issue.
