Chinese New Year light-up at Chinatown features lanterns in shape of Bengal tigers

The centrepiece of this year’s Chinese New Year light-up at Chinatown features a family of Bengal tigers. The 10.5-metre tall lantern structure also features two tigers holding onto a gold coin and gold ingot. There are also strings of lanterns that stretch about 880m along Eu Tong Sen Road and New Bridge Road. In total, there are about 300 lanterns on display. The lanterns took months to be handcrafted by students from the Singapore University of Technology and Design.
