Hawkers in Chinatown are hoping an upcoming food festival will help draw in families and foodies as stallholders look to recover from the pandemic. The festival comes in the face of rising costs and a Malaysia chicken export ban that has been hard to stomach for many food sellers. MP Josephine Teo hopes the event will help hawkers hit by two years of office workers and tourists staying home. The event runs from Friday until June 12, for two weekends.
