Health officials are investigating cases of monkeypox after two cases of the rare disease were confirmed on May 20 in Melbourne and Sydney. Both patients recently returned to Australia from Britain and Europe. Authorities are alarmed as the disease is usually only found in west and central Africa and rarely spreads elsewhere. Nine cases of monkeypox have been found in England, while dozens of infections have been detected in France, Germany, Italy and Sweden. Canada is looking into 13 suspected cases.
