Australia, New Zealand concerned over China-Solomon Islands “security deal”

The Solomon Islands has confirmed it is creating a partnership with China. A policing deal has already been signed, with another on military cooperation due for consideration by the Cabinet that could possibly see China base its warships in the Pacific. Australia and New Zealand have raised concerns about the proposed security pact that will see China making major inroads into a region close to their shores.
