Singapore’s labour movement is moving to protect the rights of employees working at new start-ups. That is because there is a greater proportion of local talent joining such firms. National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) Deputy Secretary-General Chee Hong Tat has said this will better support new companies. He was speaking at a visit to a local food tech firm that has just unionised. Alchemy Foodtech is partnering NTUC to create better jobs for its workers. It is also among the first local start-ups to sign a memorandum of understanding to set up a company training committee with NTUC.
