55% of platform workers surveyed in favour of compulsory CPF contributions

Mandatory Central Provident Fund contributions was the top issue raised by most platform workers surveyed in a public consultation paper. The Advisory Committee on Platform Workers reached out to 22,000 people and received 1,200 submissions. Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon said 55% of them were in favour of compulsory contributions. Housing and retirement were among the most common reasons cited for wanting CPF contributions. Dr Koh says it was not surprising, as platform workers only contribute to MediSave accounts for their healthcare needs.
