Singapore is testing a way for households to make payment on overdue water bills while avoiding restrictions to water flow. Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Desmond Tan said around 150,000 households are behind on paying their water bills. 50 households are participating in a trial where they pre-pay for credits to access water at normal flow rate. 20% of that credit payment will then go towards outstanding bills. The Pay-As-You-Use (PAYU) scheme is already being offered to electricity customers with overdue bills.
