Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Desmond Tan said around 150,000 households are behind on paying their water bills. 50 households are participating in a trial where they pre-pay for credits to access water at normal flow rate. 20% of that credit payment will then go towards outstanding bills. The Pay-As-You-Use (PAYU) scheme is already being offered to electricity customers with overdue bills.
