Bangkok (Thailand), July 4 (CityNewsR): Minister of Foreign Affairs Noppadol Pattama traveled today to meet with the Constitution Court and to clarify his signing of a joint declaration between Thailand and Cambodia to have the Phrea Vihear National Park registered as a World Heritage site to Cambodia. Mr. Noppadol affirmed that his meeting with the court today is upon his basis of being a co-signer on the document and that he is not on trial. He expressed confidence that he would be able to illuminate the matter to the court.

The minister was accompanied by authorities from the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Department of Treaties and Legal Affairs to assist him. The minister however, would not comment on whether or not he believed his actions were unconstitutional, saying that it was in the hands of the court to decide.

Mr. Noppadol said that once he travels to the World Heritage Committee meeting in Canada on the 5th he will ask that they postpone discussing Phrea Vihear National Park as Thailand cannot yet fully support any motion on the matter. He also said that he would declare a clear stance for himself at the ministry at 2 PM today.
